Exchangely is a currency converter mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the legal basis for processing, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). By using Exchangely you acknowledge the practices described below.
The controller responsible for processing your personal data is Idekini, based in the Netherlands. You can reach the controller at [email protected] for any privacy-related inquiry.
Exchangely does not require an account and does not collect personally identifiable information directly. Your preferences (selected currencies, base currency, decimal places, auto-update toggle, appearance) and recently fetched exchange rates are stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences and Hive. This data never leaves your device.
To provide live exchange rates, the app fetches data from a third-party rate provider (ExchangeRate-API). Only the requested base currency code is sent in the request URL. No personal data is transmitted. All network requests are encrypted with HTTPS.
Exchangely includes advertising provided by Google AdMob. Advertising mediation through AppLovin may be enabled in a future release. These services may process pseudonymized identifiers, including your Android Advertising ID (which you can reset or limit in your device settings), along with usage and device data, in accordance with their own privacy policies. In the European Economic Area (EEA), you are asked for consent through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before any personalized advertising data is collected, in accordance with GDPR. You can change your ad preferences at any time via Settings → Ad preferences.
Where GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: (a) your consent, for personalized advertising and any optional data collection; (b) our legitimate interest, for non-personalized advertising and for delivering a functional currency converter; (c) compliance with a legal obligation, where applicable.
Data processed by Google AdMob and (when enabled) AppLovin may be transferred outside the European Economic Area, including to servers in the United States. Such transfers occur under Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and the safeguards implemented by these providers.
Locally stored preferences and cached exchange rates persist on your device until you uninstall Exchangely or clear the app's storage from Android Settings. Advertising-related identifiers and any data processed by Google AdMob or AppLovin are retained in accordance with their respective retention policies.
If GDPR applies to you, you have the right to: access the personal data we process about you; request rectification of inaccurate data; request erasure of your data; restrict or object to processing; receive your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. Because Exchangely does not collect personally identifiable information directly, most rights are effectively exercised by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app, and by adjusting your advertising consent through Settings → Ad preferences.
If you believe your data protection rights have been infringed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the EU Member State where you live, work, or where the alleged infringement took place. In the Netherlands, the supervisory authority is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Exchangely requires only Internet access, used solely to fetch live exchange rates and serve advertisements. On Android 13 and above, the app also declares the AD_ID permission, used by Google AdMob to provide and measure advertising. No camera, location, microphone, contacts, or storage permissions are requested.
Exchangely is not directed at children under the age of 16 and does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through Exchangely, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest version. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
